On Gardening

GardenLife

It’s about that time. We will be getting our raised beds tilled next weekend!

I don’t have a ton of gardening tips to share, mostly because my number one tip would be:

Marry Dan.

Because he rocks at this.

But since that is not an option for you (at all), I will pass along what I know:

Our sweet friends got some horse poo they’re going to share with us. Did you know people give away compost on craigslist?

For seeds or plants, we try to hit up Johnson’s Garden first to shop local. They’re a little more expensive, but it’s worth it. Quality product and outstanding customer service. They have a rewards program as well.

This year we got some seedlings from the Youth Horizons crew. Great mission to support!

We do not plan to plant citadel-sized sunflowers this year.

My friend told me about this:

The city of Wichita is offering a rain barrel rebate up to $75 as part of their water conservation program. (We think the rebate comes out of your water bill.) Great incentive to conserve water. If you aren’t a Wichitan, you can see if your city has any rebate offers.

Whole bunch of tips here, from using eggs shells to epsom salt.

And, of course, there’s always Pinterest.

Okay…number one garden tip to share? (I probably don’t already know it.)
